Volunteer textbanks and Day of Action this month

Fresh off our big state supreme court victory we turn our attention to the 2026 midterms. On June 28, sign up for our Day of Action to go out and have conversations with voters and find out what is on their minds. We will be talking to Democrats who sat out the November election as well as voters for whom we have not party affiliation data. This is the necessary groundwork to win in 2026. Sign up here. Shifts are 9, noon and 3.

 

We also need your help to recruit volunteers for the action above and other volunteer opportunities as well as send out invitations for upcoming events. We'll be using the REACH app for our textbanks on Wed. June 11 as well as Tuesday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 24. Join us at the office from 6 to 8 p.m. those nights by signing up here.

 
 

State Budget discussion headlines June monthly meeting

Unless they have to be in Madison for votes, Rep. Lee Snodgrass and Senator Kristin Dassler-Alfheim will be on hand at our June monthly meeting to discuss the upcoming state budget fight and to answer your questions. There is nothing more critical when it comes to our state government than the biennial budget and our two Appleton representatives have been fighting the tough fight against Republicans trying to undermine Gov. Evers’ plans to help the state.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the county party office. Here is the signup link to attend and the Google Meet link if you want to attend virtually. There is an ice cream social from 5:30 to 6:30. Here are the May Meeting minutes.

 

Ice Cream Social prior to June 9 monthly meeting

We’d love to see you before the June 9 monthly meeting for an ice cream social. It will run from 5:30 to 6:30 with the meeting beginning at 7. There is a $5 suggested donation.

Don't miss the rally at Houdini on June 6!

Forward Fox Valley, in conjunction with 50501, American Opposition, and the Unite 4 Veterans Coalition, is hosting a protest on June 6, 2025 honoring the anniversary of D-Day. These protests are happening all across the nation on this date! We will rally in support of the constitution. So many veterans gave their lives defending it! We honor them. Who should come: Anyone who cares about the constitution and anyone who not want to live in a oligarchy or under fascism Why: Because we value our country, our freedoms, and our veterans When: Friday, June 6th from 6 - 7:30 PM This will be a PEACEFUL rally in downtown Appleton. Heart of the Valley OAT is on the move!

Plan to attend the Medicaid panel discussion on June 26 at the Kaukauna Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. It is critical we get this important information out to the public!

The Heart of the Valley OAT is also hosting a food drive that will run through the montly membership meeting on July 14. Please drop off your items at the party office at 516 W. College.

 

Become a poll worker for the 2026 elections

Are you interested in serving your community and protecting our democracy? Become a poll worker for the 2026-2027 election cycle!

Poll workers are paid to help run an election at a polling place. Our team will help connect with your municipal clerk, who will train you on everything you need to know to support voters.

Our theme this year is: We are all in this together. We are here to hear, “What hurts?” Stop by for a chat and to learn more about community resources in Outagamie County. Plus we have a fun game for the kiddos to win a prize!!

As part of the North OAT’s efforts to get involved in important community affairs, we are asking you to take action to help save some valuable resources that are being threatened by the closure of the UW-Fox Valley campus in June.  It’s sad enough that folks are losing jobs and students are losing a local educational resource but the future of so many popular facilities connected to the campus is suddenly in doubt as well. That includes the Barlow Planetarium (27,000 visitors, including 18,000 students); the Arts Center which houses the Black Box Theatre and which serves as valuable space for 17 community groups; The Earth Science Museum (15-20,000 public school visitors last year); the Children’s Center which will mean the loss of yet another already scarce childcare facility; the Community Garden and so much locally produced fresh food; and so much more.   DPOC Monthly Meeting Minutes - UNAPPROVED February 10, 2025, 7:00 pm Welcome and Call to Order : Vice Chair Fenton called meeting to order at 7:01pm and led the pledge/land promise. Approval of minutes : Mary Kohrell shared the January meeting minutes.  Dale Schaber/Penny Bernard Schaber motion/second to approve January 13, 2025 meeting minutes.  Motion carried. Kohrell stated that she will begin sharing meeting minutes digitally rather than printing them for future meetings. Treasurers report : Alyssa Vandenberg shared the Treasurer’s report. Call to Action: Contact the JFC about cuts to higher ed

We have received and urgent call to action from our area Democratic legislators, though the urgency is state-wide.   Robin Vos and the Republican members of the Joint Finance Committee are threatening to cut $87 million from the Universities of Wisconsin. This is not only unconscionable given the state’s 4.3 billion surplus it would be catastrophic to the state in many ways. Vos is citing “political correctness” and “lack of political diversity on campuses” as a reason for considering the cuts.   It is imperative you send an email to each of the Joint Finance Committee members urging them not to take this action.
