Stop Despairing: This is still ours to win |
By Kelly Fenton, DPOC Vice Chair Despair is not an option. Panic is not an option. Neither are they warranted nor do they serve any purpose. Start spreading the Noes ... on GOP amendments |
The GOP is at it again, trying to steal powers from Gov. Evers by attempting to sneak past the voters two constitutional amendments during the Aug. election when almost all of the primaries will be for Republican candidates. That means we must get the word out to our voters that, even without Democratic candidates to vote for, they must show up to vote No on these two terrible amendments. The upshot of this GOP ploy is to take away the governor's prerogative to spend federal dollars and instead put that money in the hands of the legislature. This could delay funding for essential needs during emergencies. It is also another cynical ploy by the GOP to radically alter an established process for spending federal money. We will be conducting phone banks to Democratic voters throughout July and up to the Aug. 13 primary date. Please email Kathy Kraus at kathleenk917@gmail.com for more details. |
