Let us honor our second chance and do something |
It has been nearly six weeks since President Biden made the selfless decision to suspend his re-election campaign and endorse Kamala Harris. Remember how we were all feeling before that? Traumatized, nearly hopeless, almost resigned. Then the Democratic Party and the American people were granted new life. Since that Sunday when everything changed we have gone from life support to flickering hope to mounting enthusiasm to surging joy to daring to dream. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have taken the baton from President Biden and never looked back. In a month and a half they have taken us from well back in the polls and into the lead. A second chance like this is a gift. Now we must fully honor it. Michelle Obama told us all, told you, to “Do something.” She meant more than placing signs or getting our pictures taken with our political heroes. She meant get in the game. To that end we are going to need you out there with us talking to our fellow Democrats to make sure they are not wavering. That they understand the existential stakes of defeating Donald Trump once and for all. That we keep the momentum from the transformative Biden administration moving ever forward. People are stepping up like never before. Don’t get left behind. Sign up for our outstanding and thorough canvass training, offered each Thursday. On the day you choose to canvass we will set you up with an experienced canvasser. You won’t believe how easy and rewarding it is. And we absolutely know how effective it is. Starting Sept. 7, there won't be a weekend we won't have canvassing going on and it's available for your convenience during the week. All the available dates can be found in these links both for Appleton/Grand Chute and for Heart of the Valley/Kaukana. If canvassing isn't your thing or you're physically unable to do it, reach our voters via the WisDems Phone Banks every Thursday! It’s ours to win now. Let’s go grab it! When we fight, we win. |
Labor Day Parade: Let's show up and show out! |
Last September Joe Biden became the first president to join a picket line, declaring that he wanted "to stand up with workers in our fight for economic and social justice." You can do the same by joining your fellow Outagamie Democrats in the Labor Day Parade on Sept. 2. Let's show the community that Democrats are Union Proud. Bring family and friends to either walk with us or ride on the trailer. Sign up here! There are reports that several heavy-hitter Republicans will be walking in the parade so it matters that we show up and overwhelm them with our enthusiasm and support. Republicans are no friends of unions. Let's remind them who is! We are staging from 320 Chute Street in Menasha. Float decorating begins at 9 a.m. with a slated step-off time of 9:25. If you walk you can grab a ride back to the starting point on the trailer. |
Calling on rural Northeast Wisconsin Democrats! |
We have plenty of large signs to place in rural northeast Wisconsin to help combat those gross signs the GOP has uglifying our highways and byways. If you have a spot to place one, we have them for Dr. Kristin Lyerly and Sen. Tammy Baldwin as well as for state legislature candidates Emily Tseffos and Kelly Peterson ... and more. And we have the stakes and ties to help you get them set up.
Let's show rural Wisconsin Democrats are here and ready to make this state a better place. |
Hot Dog Bar/Monthly Meeting on Sept. 9 |
Come for conversation and a hot dog between 5:30 and 6:30 on Sept. 9. ($5 suggested donation). If you can donate a food item, sign up HERE. And, of course, stay for the 7 p.m. meeting. Lots to talk about with just eight weeks to go! |
Time to get our candidates' names out there via letters |
The primaries are over and it’s on to the general election! Which means now is the time to start touting your local Democratic candidates. And one of the ways to do that is a simple one: a letter to the editor. We are providing a quick guide to doing just that, including the link to the submission form for the Appleton Post-Crescent. Keep your letter to 250 word or less and try to submit by Wednesday to run in the next Sunday issue. You will receive a phone call from the paper confirming you are the writer. You may also submit to other publications in your area but the Post-Crescent will have the greatest reach. For your further guidance we are providing a link to talking points for all the candidates as well as a link to the district maps (Click on the district highlighted in blue on this page) in case you aren’t certain who your candidates are. You can also scroll further down on that page and click on the photos for candidate websites and district maps. Here is one possible format:

DPOC goes to film school! |
The Outagamie Democrats are getting creative and we have the talent to pull it off. We have embarked on a series of Infrastructure Minutes to highlight the ways the Biden-Harris administration is improving the lives of people right here in the Fox Valley.
Conceived by Jerry Iverson and aided by the great videography of Lawrence University student Megan Eisenstein, we plan a series of seven or eight so look for them on Facebook as we complete them. Here's our first one on the Appleton Airport and another for cleaning up Plamann Park.
Another of our creatives, Travis Retzlaff, has put together a funny appeal to volunteers to go out and talk to voters. |
The GOP is add it again with another bad amendment |
If there's an election coming up you can be sure the GOP is busy concocting awful amendments designed to restrict our democracy.
Sure enough, this November's ballot will feature another constitutional amendment creating more barriers to voting. The League of Women Voters is all over it again. Read here why it's bad and why we must vote no. |
