Take the time you need ... then let's get back to work |
By Emily Tseffos, DPOC Chair
We want to start by saying thank you to each and every one of you for your hard work these past few months. Whether you collated literature packs, greeted folks at the office, made calls, wrote postcards, knocked on thousands of doors, brought snacks, shared social media content, or served as a volunteer for those *very* busy weekends of action, our leadership team is grateful for you.
We wanted to quickly send a note because we know that many of us are feeling anxious, angry, sad, defeated... we are all dealing with Tuesday's results in different ways. Please take the time to process this in whatever way you need, and let us know if you need help. We've included some resources at the bottom we hope you'll turn to as needed .
The Work's Not Done But mostly: remember we're in this fight together. The hours, days, weeks, months, years of your life you've spent working toward a better tomorrow have been banked. You've held back the bad. You've planted seeds. You've changed minds and hearts and we are so so grateful for you. Don't dismiss the work you've done - the work we've done together. Though in some ways we wish we weren’t facing the prospects of another election right around the corner, in another way it may prove the perfect salve – and re-motivation – for us. The fight to save the liberal majority on the state supreme court begins in January … and fight we must. As Ben Wikler, our party chair, pointed out, the Wisconsin ground game this past election cycle -- and that includes our ground game here in Outagamie County -- was monumental and unprecedented and why Wisconsin, among all the battleground states, did so comparatively well, re-electing Tammy Baldwin and coming within less than a percentage point of winning the state for Kamala Harris. Let's Nourish Those Seeds We've Planted That may seem hollow given what we face, but let us assure you, it is not. It is something to be so proud of and something to harness in the fight to elect Justice Susan Crawford to replace retiring Justice Ann Walsh Bradley. It’s a battle we need to win, not just politically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. We must show our spirits are not crushed but more determined than ever.
