Write your legislators today!
Let's stop this before it's too late |
The Wisconsin GOP is at it again, attempting to enshrine in our Constitution one of the most restrictive voter laws in the nation -- the voter ID law. It is already the law in this state as of 2016 but making it into a constitutional amendment will make it nearly impossible to ever remove it.
They are trying to rush it through so time is of the utmost.
Now, thanks to fair maps that hold GOP legislators accountable, our pressure can have impact. Please find and contact your state representative and state senator (even if they are on our side) and urge them to vote no. Below is a sample message. Use the appropriate Joint Resolution reference depending on whether you are contacting your state representative (Assembly Resolution 1) or state senator (Senate Resolution 2). Include your name and city at the bottom.
I am writing to urge you to vote no on the divisive, confusing and unnecessary attempt to enshrine in our Constitution our restrictive voter ID law, something no Democrat or any voting rights organization supports. Wisconsin already makes it harder to vote than almost any state in the nation and we already know that voter fraud is infinitesimally rare and voter ID laws don’t even address those rare instances.
We finally have fair maps and democracy in our state. The people want cooperation, not continued divisiveness and partisanship, especially when it comes to our most precious right – the right to vote.
Vote No on Senate Joint Resolution 2 (or Assembly Joint Resolution 1). |
