Special Guest Presentation: Fox Cities Advocates for Public Education:  Kelly introduced the presenters, Carol Lenz, Jackie Nider, and Jim Bowman.  Public education is the cornerstone of our democracy, economy, and society.  There is interest in privatizing public education.  There is considerable interest in test scores, but test scores are a snapshot in time.  Schools in our area received approximately $1000/student more, but are still short about $1000/student.  2022 and 2024 were record years in WI for referenda passed due to inadequately funded school districts.  Jackie Nider presented on special education.  There is some success in the state budget in this area.  Bowman also described voucher programs and the financial challenges they present to public schools.  Copies of the presentation are available which include hyperlinks.  Continue to monitor the DPOC newsletter to learn about specific calls to action.  Website is FCA4PE.org

8th Congressional District Convention:  Dottie LeClair called for resolutions. There were none.  She also encouraged people to get involved with the 8th District Convention by attending on March 29 in Marinette. Contact Dottie for information on attending by March 18.
