As part of the North OAT’s efforts to get involved in important community affairs, we are asking you to take action to help save some valuable resources that are being threatened by the closure of the UW-Fox Valley campus in June. It’s sad enough that folks are losing jobs and students are losing a local educational resource but the future of so many popular facilities connected to the campus is suddenly in doubt as well. That includes the Barlow Planetarium (27,000 visitors, including 18,000 students); the Arts Center which houses the Black Box Theatre and which serves as valuable space for 17 community groups; The Earth Science Museum (15-20,000 public school visitors last year); the Children’s Center which will mean the loss of yet another already scarce childcare facility; the Community Garden and so much locally produced fresh food; and so much more.
