Time to tell the voters about greedflation this Day of Action

Our first official bridge-building canvasses begin on June 1 with shifts at 10 and 1. (We also offer canvassing weekdays and Saturdays. Pick up your turfs from 2 to 5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 10 to 3 on Saturdays). This is the critical work, identifying voters whose political persuasions we don't know by simply asking them about the issues that matter to them and, if possible, using some gentle persuasion to nudge independent-minded voters in our direction. Elections can be won with this work. Sign up below ...

Appleton/Grand Chute Canvass

Please watch this video to better understand why and how we do this and why it matters so much.

Additionally, we are providing a link to our talking points about the economy as you will likely find that to be a fairly common theme in our bridge-building conversations. There is so much good news to tell and we should tell it but we also must meet people where they are and people are hurting.

Yet it is also time for us to go on the offensive and tell them the true story about growing costs, to invite them to share in our outrage over greed-flation and the fact that corporate profits are up over 80 percent these past three years. Or over those internal memos that show corporations taking advantage of people’s perceptions of inflation to gouge consumers for record profits and margins, salaries and stock buybacks. No more backpedaling on the issue, not when 54 cents of every dollar of rising prices is attributable to price gouging.

This inflationary cycle began globally, the result of the pandemic, supply-chain issues and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is now the fault of greedy corporations. Embrace the voters’ concerns ... then let them know the truth. Our Democracy Depends on You.

Sen. Doug Jones to visit county party office June 5

Former US Senator Doug Jones will visit our county party office on June 5 to address our volunteers and talk about the upcoming election. We can learn a lot from Doug Jones because he won as a Democrat … in Alabama! The event is scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Please RSVP soon.

All's fair in love and late June!

Our presence at the county fair in Seymour is even more critical in election year. We need to fill shifts (3 hours) June 26-30 and make sure we are on hand to greet fairgoers and maybe pick up a volunteer or two. It's easy and great fun giving prizes away to the kiddos! Sign up now!

Our Winning Stategy Includes You

House Party!!

No, I’m not referring to the 1990 movie, its subsequent 2023 remake or Sam Hunt’s country song.

I’m referring to one of our strategic goals for the fall election: to host 50 house parties from June through August. Why? you ask. A house party allows us to:

  • Meet like-minded voters who live in our neighborhoods in order to build capacity for fall

  • Allows voters to feel empowered by discovering they are not alone

  • Learn how we can organize as neighbors to make a difference by taking action in this election and beyond

  • Meet our local candidates!

This is a proven strategy. It was used to mobilize volunteers in Obama’s two victories. And it’s just a fun way to connect with neighbors, friends or other strong democrats in your area.  Not sure you know anyone?  No worries – we have lists of strong democrats in your neighborhoods!

We will connect you with a Team Leader that will oversee the party organizing and help with the invites. You just need a place to host, whether that be a home, an apartment, a back yard or even a community room.

Fifty parties is a lofty goal, which means we need everyone to step up as they are able. If you can help us by hosting a house party just let Trisha Kostelny know at dpocoutreach@gmail.com.

Build Your Organizing Skills in June!

Do you want us (that includes you) to succeed in recruiting enough volunteers to reach the voters we need to win in November? Reaching our goal depends on all of us.

You have a story to tell in which the values that inspire you to take action can be shared. Using your “Story of Self” during one on one meetings with potential volunteers is an effective way to build relationships with others who share our values.

An opportunity to craft your “Story of Self” and learn how to have effective “One on Ones” is available to you! Ann Muenster and our two DPW Field Organizers, Denny Dougherty and Tim Bruce will lead the training. Will you join us?

Sign up for the following opportunities here: Friday, June 21 from 2 pm - 4 pm (with Denny and Ann) and also on Saturday, June 22 from 10 am - 12 pm. (with Tim and Ann).

Volunteer Recruitment always a need

Every Tuesday at 6 p.m. is the volunteer recruitment phone bank which is so vital to helping us secure the numbers we need to win this November. If talking to voters isn't your thing, this just might be as we are calling Democrats, many of whom have volunteered with us before, to ask them to help out in any number of ways, though it will be primarily to hit those doors and talk to voters! Contact our political outreach chair Trisha Kostelny at kostelny4@gmail.com.

Sundae on a Monday? Why not?

Prior to our monthly meeting on June 10, stop by for ice cream sundaes. The fudge and caramel flows from 5:30 - 6:30. The meeting begins at 7.

Debate Watch Party

Yes, we know. It's never easy to have to look at or listen to Donald Trump. But won't it be fun to watch President Biden wipe the floor with him in their first debate June 27? And won't it be even more fun to watch it happen with friends and fellow Dems? Come to the party office at 516 W. College from 7:30-9:30.

DPOC will not participate in Flag Day Parade this year

Because the state convention begins the day of the parade and so many of our parade-goers will be attending, we will be skipping the Flag Day Parade on June 8 this year.

Save The Date: Aug. 18

Don't forget the Corn Roast is right around the corner. Join us at Telulah Park from 5:30-8 on Aug. 18.
